Well, with the temperatures reaching new record breaking highs for this time of the year, Bedford Communications toned out a residential structure fire in Forest. Medic 14-5 was the first to arrive and advised heavy fire showing and marked it a working fire. While units from Company 5 (FVFD), Company 3 (BVFD), Company 1 (BFD), and Squad 5 were all responding Lynchburg Fire Department was returning from a motor vehicle accident and noticed the heavy smoke and began to investigate and found the working fire and called in a full structure response from LFD. Firefighters were able to save 2 dogs from the house. These pets were taken to a local veterinarian office for smoke inhalation. All units worked well together to to control and extinguish the blaze despite the high temperatures outside. Companies, 5, 3, and 1, Squad 5, Medic 14-5, and LFD were assigned to the call.
